Economic Factors

While the sector has certainly been impacted by the economic recession this has not been evenly spread across the sector. While evidence is there that people are eating out less frequently and are looking to spend less on each occasion. The consumer appears unwilling to forgo eating out which is now much more ingrained in the UK culture than 15-20 years ago, instead this has driven dynamics in the sector for "affordable luxury" where people are looking for value for money and a revisiting of traditional foods and concepts. This has lead operators to introduce new concepts focussed on family dining and the value concept.
